[KJW #051-C] WEL, World Elder Land issues a Proclamation for:

"World Elder Peace Week"
September 17 - 23, 2006

Decide to start your own IMAGINATION FOR PEACE Newsletter
in your community.

People possess a certain amount of energy
and if they use those resources in suppressing thoughts they won’t have that good energy to promote their health and wellness. If the immune system is strengthened by writing, which seems to be the case, this could be how writing affects illness through strengthening the immune system.

Creative expressions like writing, painting, dancing, etc.. contribute to a better health, a better community and a better world for everyone.

##3 Starting your own "Imagination For Peace" Newsletter.

"Beyond right or wrong... we are limited only
by the boundaries of our imagination." Virginia 99 years old.

FOR CREATIVITY TO HAPPEN, SOMETHING WITHIN US
MUST BE BROUGHT TO LIFE.

Creativity can not be found "outside of the spirit"
Creativity is 'an original' not 'a copy'
As life and age, our spirit, our breath of life is within ourselves

... let's set it free.

A lovely caterpillar created by an elder.
The title of his composition was
"Love is all we need."

"Imagination For Peace" can be published via Internet or printed in a special format or designed.

POEM: ODE TO HAPPINESS

by Kathy J. Ward

This is my heart
this is my PEACE
it is joyful music
what you hear me sing

My fingers snapping
my hands clapping
my toes dancing
my body being blessed

A twist to the left
a twist to the right
the soul is the essence of my rhythm
clapping, dancing, snapping
Isn't this call 'art' ?
no words
to start,
to say,
to explain...

Ode to happiness
right here on Earth
I am giving birth
to LOVE
and nothing less...

Peace be with you!

KJW - About Kathy J. Ward

Kathy Ward
UNIVERSAL PEACE AMBASSADOR

Kathy J. Ward received a nomination as Universal Peace Ambassador by the Universal Peace Ambassador Circle in Geneva in June 2006. Kathy is a Recreation Therapy Consultant and President of WEL, World Elder Land™, ERT, Elder Recreation Therapy and BWCA, Better World Community Adventures. Kathy strongly believes in, and has dedicated the last ten years of her life, to the betterment of elders and the communities they live in. Kathy's burning passion and clear understanding is Clinical Therapeutic Recreation For Elders. This profession did not exist prior to her work. Kathy's work is about nurturing wellness and a better quality of life for every elder citizen worldwide. These nurturing ways include: choosing purposeful programs; facilitating creativity, curiosity, self-learning, motor coordination skills, behavior modifications, social relations, inclusion, cognitive stimulation, spirituality, awareness of the body and its movement and creative arts.

Kathy teaches each person participating in the WEL programs and activities. People giving or receiving services learn how to implement better ways individually, not focusing on "dependencies." Each individual is responsible for performing as the crafter of their own wellness.

Kathy says "Happiness is an attribute of love and we are divine love, a work of art, inspired and made by love. Nothing is more important than personal happiness for better health and improved quality of life. Happiness is a personal experience and a person's choice. Happiness refreshes our heart as it comes from within. Happiness is nurtured by the life, actions, thoughts, projects, social relations, self expression and performance of the individual. Happiness puts us in alignment with the divine forces of the universe, giving us the vitality and the capacity to dream and work on our dreams. Happiness as is love, opens our hearts in many ways when their is no way."

Kathy is the author of "A Happy, Inclusive and Meaningful Recreation Program for Elders" and most recently "The Journal For A Better Life" also available in Spanish "Diario Para Una Mejor Vida." Kathy is a graduate of Florida International University, with a degree in Psychology. She is a Group Psychotherapist and National Assisted Living Administrator Certified, Author and Recreation Therapy Consultant. Kathy has dedicated the last ten years, to emphasizing the importance and meaning of a more active life style for elders, as well as promoting an environment of proactive inclusion, social integration, creativity and participation in the communities which they belong.

Kathy lectures widely to elders and caregivers about pathways to a better life and wellness of mind, body and spirit in Spanish and English.

Kathy's websites are WEL, World Elder Land www.worldelderland.com, ERT, Elder Recreation Therapy www.elderrecreationtherapy.com and BWCA, Better World Community Adventures www.betterworld7.com

One of her dreams is to become a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador For Elders. Her goal is to help focus proper attention and resources toward community integration and wellness to seek a dignified and better quality of life for elders all over the world.
