w can I spread PEACE in our commu
How can I spread PEACE in our community?

How can I make our world a better place?

Here is a simple but meaningful project to give 'form', promote 'social integration' and 'inclusion' toward an unstoppable PEACE process for a better world for everyone...

#2 Starting "Listening For Peace Community Councils"

(1) Elders from Friendship Highs and other community members are encouraged to listen to one another,
to speak up and share their views and ideas for a better community. (2)
Elders from Long Branch Senior
Center expressing their heart's desires for a better community. The audience was invited to listen with their
hearts, ears and minds to all members that wanted to address the audience.

  • Listening For PEACE Community Councils - people are encouraged to bring all sides together so they may hear one another, speak and share their ideas and suggestions to better their communities and their own lives. It also provides opportunities for people to speak who are seldom if ever listened to.

Listening For PEACE Community Councils are for listening for what can be better. Suggestions, comments for better ways expressed from the heart and simple ways are also encouraged. The audience is invited to listen carefully without interruptions, and deeply and honestly hear the thoughts and ideas expressed by others. Reparations and better ways are also encouraged before the Listening For PEACE Community Councils session is over. All members of the community are invited to attend frequent meetings.

    Listening For PEACE Community Councils
fosters cooperation, encourages involvement, social integration and creativity for the betterment of the community and its members.

Listening For PEACE Community Councils are facilitated by a member of the community with proper listening skills.

    Cooperative and Compassionate Listening skills:

    1. Listening to the facts that the speaker is saying.

    2. Give full attention on the person who is speaking.

    3. Allow yourself listening before you begin to talk.

    4. Listen patiently. Listening takes time. Listening is a precious gift of time.

    5. Listen to nonverbal messages.

    6. As a good listener, develop the skill to put yourself in the shoes of the speaker.

    7. Good listening requires the temporary suspension of all unrelated thoughts -- a blank canvas.

    8. Keep an open mind.

    9. Ask questions only to ensure understanding of something that has been said (avoiding questions that disrupt the speaker's train of thought).

    10. It is not helpful to be judgmental while listening. Open your heart... forgive and nurture good healing energy.

    11. Release negative energies and invite love into your body, mind and spirit before you begin to talk.

    12. In listening there must no be reacting.

    13. The conflict's resolution and understanding can be offered on the basis of benefit to both sides.

Listen as you open your mind and heart and
    GIVE PEACE A CHANCE!

How can I spread PEACE in our community?

How can I make a difference?

Here are three simple but meaningful projects to give 'form', promote 'social integration' and 'inclusion' toward an unstoppable PEACE process for a better world for everyone...

# 1 "Forming a CHAPTER FOR PEACE"

All the good we do in the world to GIVE PEACE A CHANCE, must come from our own initiative as a group. All our actions and thoughts, will define the concept and dimension of PEACE in our community.

"Chapter For Peace" repairing the house
of an elder suffering from HIV. All community members were invited to bring their ideas, skills and good energy.
Elders from Victory Terrace Independent Living in Potomac, gather to discuss how to better their quality of life and their community.

What needs to be present for PEACE to exist?

How can we better our lives and communities?

Children from a day care center in Washington D. C. gathered with their parents and other community members to reflect about PEACE.
Here is a photo collage.

PEACE... an open dialog and everyone is invited. A positive, meaningful and inclusive way of life in all communities to create a
"CULTURE OF PEACE"; non violence, reconciliation, acts of kindness and betterment for everyone.
  • All generations are invited to participate and join the CHAPTER FOR PEACE. This is an intergenerational program.

The CHAPTER FOR PEACE recognizes the interdependency of all beings; humans, animals, plants, earth.

The CHAPTER FOR PEACE does not discriminates and INCLUDES everyone.

The CHAPTER FOR PEACE builds bridges and not walls.

The CHAPTER FOR PEACE considers NATURE as our extended boy; preservation and conservation of nature is one of its priorities.

The CHAPTER FOR PEACE brings JOY, HAPPINESS, WELLNESS and LOVE to everyone.

The CHAPTER FOR PEACE is a community-based program that does not report to anyone or it is not affiliated to any particular organization or religious group.

The CHAPTER FOR PEACE in our community does not required a membership. It is not a hierarchical group with President or Vice President. Everyone is invited to join and participate. Opportunities and responsibilities are shared by all its members equally.

The CHAPTER FOR PEACE will have their own by-laws if its members consider this necessary.

The CHAPTER FOR PEACE will involve our dear elders for the betterment of their quality of life.

Send us your photo collage of your CHAPTER FOR PEACE and we will
post it in our website for the rest of the world to see it too.

Peace be with you!

Reflexão Pela PAZ
written by: Kathy J. Ward

somenteao meu redor
mas pode estar presa em...
em meus pensamentos, em meus escritos
em meu coração, em minhas palavras
em minhas ações, em minhas mãos
em meus olhos, em minha alma.

Hoje começa minha união pela paz
amanhã será tarde de mais
dia a dia progride-se mais
ondas de amor disseminam-se
e por aqueles que abandonaram seus sonhos,
trabalhando e criando
a PAZ darei vida novamente

Sou um pequeno tesouro do universo
um pacificador
uma ALEGRIA para o mundo

Cante uma canção de PAZ
canta comigo, TU e EU
demo-nos as mãos
deixemos que a música viaje
que a fragancia do amor inspire
novos começos, transformando amarras
que formaram-se com o tempo...

A PAZ começa com uma chama
que acenderemos, TU e EU.

[KJWa #005] New Book Announcement: Journal For A Better Life

Dear Colleagues and Friends:

I am happy to be able to share with you my second publication of 2005, Journal For A Better Life. This book is a compilation of five months of testing and implementing better ways to nurture my body, mind and spirit to obtain a better HEALTH and WELLNESS after being a victim of a hit and run driver. Two days after the accident and discussing with doctors, spiritual counselor and family members about what to do to heal and get better, I started the Journal For a Better Life, a personalized way to work toward WELLNESS.

At the time, the journal wasn't intended for anyone but myself, but as I focused and started my progress notes, meditation, education and research, notes of medical views and ways I was using to heal and get better, I recognized that the Journal with tables and insights I was keeping was going to be useful and helpful to others.
JFABLcoverfront

The Journal For A Better Life provides examples of how each one of us is the caretaker and healer of our own body, mind and spirit. It helps understand our own nature as healers. LISTENING and getting to know our body, mind and soul we can develop our own personal program as we map with doctors, therapist, healers, family and friends, better ways to obtain better health and better life.

WEL, World Elder Land is inviting all elders, their caregivers and community members where elders live, around the world, to observe a Reflection For Peace Vigil.

acts of kindness, loving and helping each other
can harmony and peace exist in our lives.

Reflection For Peace
by Kathy J. Ward

May the divine LOVE
nurture and help me become an INSTRUMENT OF PEACE.
May there be PEACE on earth.

I am giving peace a chance,
this means
JUSTICE, LOVE, KINDNESS
in my thoughts, in my writings,
in my heart, in my words,
in my actions, in my hands,
in my eyes, in my soul.

For the war is not only around me
but perhaps trapped...
in my thoughts, my writings,
my heart, my words, my actions,
my hands, my eyes, my soul...

So I begin today, for tomorrow will be much too late,
day-by-day progress is made
waves of love are attained:
for those who lose dreaming are lost,
for what I am is only part of what I create.
I am a child of this universe,
a peacemaker,
a JOY to the world.

Sing a song for PEACE tonight
sing with me, YOU and I
holding hands, letting the sound travel
and the fragrance of love inspire
new beginnings, turning times and tides...

Together... always together.

PEACE begins with one spark,
it all begins with YOU and I.
