[KJW #094] Celebrating With Our Elders That We Are Instruments Of Peace... Making The Ordinary Not Less Than Extraordinary!

How old would you be if you did not know how old you are? Leroy Satchell Paige

"My mother and I stood beside a grandmother at the zoo, waiting for our face to be painted. A little girl looked at me and said, "you've got so many freckles, there's no place to paint." A grandmother knelt down next to me and said...
- "I love our freckles."
- "Not me," I replied.
- "Well, when I was a little girl I always wanted freckles," she said, tracing her finger across my cheeks. "Freckles are beautiful!"
- I looked at her and said, "really?"
- "Of course," said the grandmother. "Name me one thing that's prettier than freckles."
- I peered into the grandmother's smiling face and softly said... "Wrinkles grandmother... wrinkles."

That moment has whispered something to me ever since. When I look at others with the eyes of love, I can see beauty.

World Prayer For Peace By All Artist
A beautiful initiative by Muhammad Iabal Behleem, Universal Peace Ambassador and his wife Michel Bodine... 141 artists from 34 countries contributed with their poems and reflections for peace, and I was delighted to participate in this beautiful project. Let's continue co-creating good healing energy in our world.

Celebrating United Nations Day With Our Elders
The 62nd annual United Nations Day
I was invited to a long-term-care elder community, to their special United Nations Day. This was a meaningful, warm and fun community integration program. It was so inspiring to witness how community members put this program together with and for our elders. Everyone contributed sharing their artistic, culinary and human gifts showing that the betterment of the quality of life of our elders is a community effort... It takes a community to better a community. Enjoy it!

THE JOY OF THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE OF LOVE

a staff member from Russia playing a melody

a staff member from Uzbekistan singing and dancing a song about friendship, and a couple from Dominican Republic
dancing merengue and salsa. Everyone was invited to learn a few steps and ways to dance these fun rhythms.

Here I am playing a memory game with the elders and everyone. Learning about the United Nations, the flags of each country in the world and how to say PEACE in many languages.

Everyone enjoyed international foods cooked by staff members representing different nationalities. Here we have; Japanese sweet rice cakes, biko from Philippines, hummus and pita from Greece, white brinde cheese from Russia and hot apple cider from USA.

If I'd known grandchildren were going to be so much fun, I'd have had them first. Emma Bombeck

Educational Program: To say PEACE and FRIENDSHIP the largest thank you note was created by children.

Mrs. Duffy's class surprised me with a beautiful gigantic thank you card, very creative, made by the kids and their aids. "Unemployed Angels" all over the world... awaiting patiently for meaningful assignments.

"Dear Kathy, thank you for coming to our school
to teach us about peace. We hope to see you again. Love
The boys and girls from Linwood Deaf Education Program."

Reflections...

Who am I? What do I want to make out of this life?

How can I nurture my whole-person?

What in the universe is better because of me?
