CLICK HERE TO READ AN ARTICLE FROM 'THE SENIOR TIMES' AND THE SPOKANE VALLEY NEWS HERALD ABOUT THIS EVENT | Comments from the participants: An artist 82 years old said, "My art work has never been accepted in an art show. I have never won anything in my life. This has been a great experience for me." "Thank you for making all the events of World Brain Awareness Week admission free" "Thank you for choosing locations for these events near public transportation. I do not drive anymore because my family thinks I am too old to drive and decided to sell my car. However, I feel great, I am 85 and love to come to events like this one, where I can meet other people and learn." A recent retiree says, "I love the visualization therapy exercise. The message of a daily doses of positive attitude, visualization and the immune system, can made wonders in my life. After experiencing the effects of it I think that this is helping me move forward, on a positive way, to the next phase of my life." "The workshop about 'Creativity and Aging' was great. We do not hear conversations or programs like this one often. So much meaningful information about how each individual can work on their own plan to have a better brain. I have had family members with mental health problems and I wish I knew then what I now know." A 4th grade student from East Farms Elementary School says ... "To stimulate the brain... it means that when I am taking a shower I stimulate visualization, motor-coordination, judgment, balance... oh, and emotions, because I always smile while I am taking a shower. I love how the water feels." A 5th grade student from East Farms Elementary School says... "The brain is so cool. I love the plastic brain you showed us. This has been the most wonderful day of my entire life." A 1st grade student from Southside Montessori Elementary School says "after the brain gets ill and the neurons start dying... can we cure the brain?"
Depend of the many other meaningful things that we are doing to keep the rest of our body healthy too. All parts of the body are related to the brain. Our blood, our lungs, our nutrition, the amount of water that we drink, etc... The ways that we choose to live our lives affect our brain and our well-being.
WE NEED TO LOVE AND CARE FOR OUR BODY, MIND AND SPIRIT. We are not machines, we are delicated beautiful beings, and our health is our responsibility. * * * * * SPECIAL THANKS "It takes a community to better a community" Thanks to all community members and organizations that helped plan, promote and deliver these meaningful events.
